Galactic Colonization

"Excellent!"

date: November 6, 2009

Great game...reminds me of Phage wars plus defensive upgrades. I enjoyed it a lot. My only critique would be to add the ability to select more than one planet or all planets. It got a little tiresome towards the end having to click my planet, their planet, my planet, their planet, etc...
About the difficulty: My problem was that I only did one ship upgrade the first three levels (because I didn't need them). On the fourth or fifth level, it did start to get really tough. That is when I noticed the ship upgrades stay with you. So, I stayed on the same level until I had all ship upgrades before proceeding. It still got pretty tough by the end. If you don't get a good foothold right away, the level gets pretty tough pretty quick.

Author's Response:

Yeah, but aside from getting a foothold early on, it is also important to have a strategy... like knowing when it is the best time to attack and defend.

Regarding your suggetions to improve the game, i'm not really sure if i can do that at the moment since the game has already been sponsored. I have to ask the sponsor first if it's okay with them.

First of all, to Legenden-Gotland...Click on the Save Slot, then click Enter.

Now, Septenary, Congrats on getting this finished. I believe has turned out to be a fine game indeed and I think you should be proud. Other than that, I believe Caedo summed things up quite nicely in his review:

"...I think this is "too good" to be truly appreciated on Newgrounds, as in, TT:A has become such a great and complex game, that the masses of 12-y/o's will 0-bomb it because they are either jealous of your ability, frustrated with their inability to beat it due to the difficulty, or they got so tied up with one little issue, that it caused them to hate the game as a whole for no legitimate reason.
I truly look forward to any games you make in the future, as I have since I played TT;T...whether they are for Newgrounds or otherwise. You have made a very good game here; do not let the scores convince you otherwise."

"Great!"

One of the better games on this site. I can't believe it doesn't have a higher score. Too bad many of the Newgrounds kids have ADD. There is a small learning curve to the controls, but by the end of the tutorial level I pretty much had it down. You can pretty much fly by using the lightning once or twice to get off the ground and then the fire for propulsion, then back to the lightning bolt, back to the fire, etc.
It was a very unique concept, well presented, and lots of fun.
My one gripe is that I got pushed through the floor quite a bit (both in the arena and on the top of the 4th or 5th level). When this happed, I would be in a different layer and would fall to my death.

factory balls 2

"Amazing!"

Such a simple, but unique puzzle game. I could play both of them for hours.
My only critique is that it was a bit cumbursome to drag the ball to the tool. I remember doing one pair of eyes that required 10 drag and drops. You could make it to where you put the ball in the middle and then just click on the tool to use. I guess if you did that though it would have been over with much faster which would be even worse!

Random Defence 2

"I liked it!"

Unfortunatly, the score seems to suggest that theceka is right. There are too many people with ADD that want to jump in a game, learn how to play it in 10 seconds, beat it in 10 minutes, and move on.
I applaud the complexity of the game, even if it was a bit much for me at times. For instance, I want to upgrade my guns... oops, I need to get a tech center... ahh man, now my power is too low... I'll just buy another power plant... crap, I'm out of blue ore... so let me search the whole map for the best spot for a blue mine, place it, let the blue ore build up so I can build a power plant, so I can turn on my tech center, so I can finally get a decent gun. It is interesting that this complexity is simultaneously the game's greatest strength and its biggest weakness.
As far as I'm concerned though, you earn every bit of 10 stars!
Now, a couple of tips I picked up along the way...
Someone complained about having to click the arrows to move around. You can use the arrow keys, which I highly suggest.
Another complained about the spawns being too close together. I suggest you wait until the last creep is dead and then press space (as mentioned in the author's comments). Build just what you need to survive, if anything, and hit space to resume.

Prince of War 2

"Not Bad"

submission: Prince of War 2

This style of game has definately been done many times before. Where I think yours shines is in the story. The plot is interesting and engaging. The real tragedy is that most people won't be able to enjoy it because they can't do so at their own pace. I had to skip certain sequences because I could no longer bear to wait 10 seconds after I had finished reading for the next person spoke. You really must add a hot key to skip to the next line of dialog. If there already is one, then I apologize and recant my previous statement.
Although, the plot was enough to drive me on, it would also have been nice to have some sort of upgrade system to increase the hero's and/or soldier's stats. It would keep the battles a little more interesting and create a desire for more people to continue the game.
The balance issues have already been touched on, so I won't beat a dead horse except to say that if you do implement an upgrade system the hero will have to be not so much of a one man army. It might even be enough to disallow healing while attacking or being attacked.
Anyways, you guys did a good job with this one and I hope you make another.

and you would have gotten a 10. Why do authors try to be so deceitful about this?
As another metal gear knock-off, if was great. Smooth gameplay, good graphics, and I like the mouse control for aiming.

It is clear that you put a ton of work into this game. It was a lot of fun, intricate, and fairly realistic. I am sorry that it is not appreciated as much as it should be. I guess it's too much for the ADD kids out there.

"Great game"

Thanks for telling us it is a demo!! I hate it when authors aren't upfront and honest about that.
The graphics were great, gameplay was loads of fun, and the whole thing ran very smoothly. I hope that there are more guns and items in the full version!
And to implodragon, if something doesn't load "like usual" for you but it is fine for the vast majority of other users, then perhaps the problem lies not with Newgrounds and certainly not with the author. PEBKAC, perhaps? The review area is to review the game not for you to trash someone's hard work because your having a bad day.

"Not bad"

I tend not to like puzzle game that are not logical, but something made me play this one through to the end. There was a bit to much trial and error and you could easily do something that makes it impossible to beat. This is how I got stuck. After the second person comes out of the cave I clicked on the plant and then on the stream. I thought the having the plant was what allowed me to divert the stream. Instead it was what kept me from making any further progress. Before that ,I had gotten about that far and clicked on the ledge, of course halting any furth progress. Before that, I clicked on the fire before the door was open, halting any further progress...I think you get the point. Otherwise, it was a lot of fun. Thanks!
